About the asset
About Kaspa
Kaspa is a Proof of Work cryptocurrency designed to break the throughput ceiling that constrains Bitcoin and most of its descendants. It uses a block-DAG (directed acyclic graph) structure called GHOSTDAG that lets blocks be produced and confirmed in parallel rather than in a strict single chain — enabling a target block time of one second while remaining secure under standard PoW assumptions.
The project launched without a premine, ICO, or pre-allocated developer fund, which has earned it a vocal "fair launch" following. Kaspa's emission schedule uses monthly "chromatic" reductions instead of discrete halvings, smoothing supply changes over time. Active development continues on Rusty Kaspa — a Rust port of the protocol intended to support higher block rates and future scaling work.
What drives the Kaspa price
The structural forces behind KAS's price moves — without forecasting where it goes next.
Throughput thesis
Kaspa is the most credible attempt at high-throughput Proof of Work. If the GHOSTDAG model holds up under real-world load — and 1-second blocks deliver the user experience advocates promise — KAS becomes the home for use cases that need PoW security but can't live with Bitcoin's confirmation latency.
Fair-launch credibility
No premine, no ICO, no allocated dev fund. Kaspa's ethical positioning matters because much of its early holder base joined explicitly for that reason. Any change to that framing — protocol-funded development, foundation grants — would be a meaningful shift in the project's narrative.
Rusty Kaspa & scaling roadmap
The Rust port of the protocol is the gating factor for everything beyond the current 1-second block target. If the team ships meaningful throughput increases (10 blocks/sec, then more), the network capacity story becomes real; if it stalls, KAS becomes another fast-PoW chain among many.
