About Brett
Brett (BRETT) is a memecoin launched in February 2024 on Base — Coinbase's Ethereum Layer-2 — by an anonymous developer. Named after a character from Matt Furie's "Boys Club" comic (the same comic that produced Pepe), BRETT became one of the defining tokens of the 2024 Base ecosystem rally and was widely held by Base-native users before its broader CEX listings. The project has no team allocation, no roadmap, and no utility beyond meme participation — by design.
BRETT inherits its security from Base, an Optimistic Rollup secured by Ethereum, and exists as an ERC-20 token at the contract level (with a mirrored BEP-20 deployment on BNB Smart Chain). Initial trading was concentrated on Aerodrome, Base's dominant DEX. Coinbase listed BRETT in June 2024, with Kraken, Bybit, and KuCoin following over the rest of the year — making it one of the few Base-native memecoins available on most major centralised exchanges without users having to bridge to Base themselves.
